The year 2017 marks the centennial of the October 1917 Socialist Revolution. The October Revolution is the major event in the historical process of emancipation of the exploited, the oppressed, the workers and the peoples, a process which has been marked by important revolutionary events from the days of primitive society, through slavery, feudalism and capitalism.

Greetings to you all, to the builders, to those who organise, conceive and project, to those who disseminate the Avante! Festival, who sell EPs - Permanent Entry Tickets - and raise their militancy, and transform it into a unique human realisation, in a Festival of the Youth, in a Festival of April and its political, social, cultural, brotherly and internationalist solidarity values, where there is a place for all those who come in goodwill.

The theme of this year's Avante! Festival is "Avante! Festival -40 years of internationalist solidarity."

On the ECOFIN decision and blackmail of the European Union against Portugal

The decision of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council of the European Union (ECOFIN) to continue the "excessive deficit procedures" against Portugal constitutes an unacceptable attack on the rights and living conditions of the Portuguese people, an affront to national sovereignty, to democracy as enshrined in the Portuguese Constitution and the will of the Portuguese people.
